Tax Information

Property taxes are collected twice a year.

Summer Taxes are billed on July 1 and are due by September 14. Summer taxes paid after that date will have interest charges on the unpaid balance.

Winter taxes are billed on December 1 and are due by February 14. After February 14 there will be interest and penalty charged. On March 1, taxes can no longer be paid at the township office. All records and unpaid taxes are mailed to the Mecosta County Treasurer for collection no later than March 15.

Taxes may be paid by mail, in person during office hours and by using the drop box on the left of the front door. Also check your current tax bill for special collections dates. If you want a receipt, please enclose a stamped. self addressed envelope with your payment.

Board of Review:

  • March 14 from 9am until noon and 1pm until 4pm.
  • March 16 from 1pm until 4pm and 6 pm until 9pm.

  • Appeals can be made by letter.

Summer Tax Deferment

Under MCL 221.51 (3), property taxpayers may defer their taxes until February 14th without penalty or interest, which is the due date of their summer taxes on their homestead, if their household income for the preceding calendar year did not exceed $40,000 and they are:

  • 62 years of age or older, including the unmarried surviving spouse of a person who was 62 years of age or older at the time of death.

  • A paraplegic or quadriplegic

  • An eligible serviceperson, eligible veteran, or their eligible widow or widower.

  • A blind person

  • A totally and permanently disabled person.

This form must be completed each year in order to have taxes deferred without penalty in any given year. The form must be filed with the township treasurer by September 14 to receive the deferral. Please call the township hall at 231-856-4480 if you need assistance or have questions.
